Reach Out: Befriending Scheme

Reach Out
is a volunteer led service for 16-25 year olds aimed at helping those who might find themselves isolated.

Reach Out befrienders meet with young people on a regular basis to offer ongoing support...  Read about it more below...

How To Join Reach Out

If you're between 16 and 25 years old and are isolated or think that meeting with a volunteer would help you get out, meet people from your local community and develop your skills and confidence please get in touch.

We will need to meet up with you to find out what you like to do and what you want to get out of the service.  We can then try and match you with a volunteer who we hope you will get on with.

Then we'll arrange an introductory meeting.  You can decide with your volunteer how often you meet and what you want to do.

We will support you by holding review meetings and you can contact the coordinator Gemma if you have any concerns.

There will also be social opportunities to meet other Reach Out participants and volunteers.

Interested in volunteering?

Reach Out volunteers meet with young people every week or fortnight at a time they both agree, spending time talking, maybe over a coffee or doing an activity they both enjoy.

Reach Out aims to engage with young people who are isolated, with a range of health and social issues.

Reach Out benefits both young people and volunteers.  Befrienders will gain skills and experience, and have the chance to give back to their local community.

Volunteers who chose to spend time with young people help to raise their self esteem and support personal development.

Full training, support and out of pocket expenses are provided.  Volunteers are covered by our employee liablilty insurance.  Volunteers should be 18 or older.
