In 1999, young people of the local area were asked what they wanted and needed from local services. These young people filled out a questionnaire and Streetwise 2000 was born. Streetwise 2000 is, and always has been for the young people. everything from the Logo to the name, has been chosen by them.
Streetwise 2000 is for young people between 16 and 25 and we deal with a wide range of society's issues. These include homelessness, lack of confidence, teenage pregnancy, isolation and anxiety. For the young people who join us, they are allocated a worker depending on what their needs are and how we can help them.
All our young people are welcome to participate in all our activity groups (e.g. The LAB, Drop-in, Beatwise). We also have specialist therapeutic groups which deal with the sort of problems young people can come up against (e.g. anxiety, anger, drugs & alcohol and young parenthood).
